Environmental Planning & Environmental Science Expertise Defined simply, land use planning is the process by which public agencies and local governments work with the interested public to determine the intensity (how much) and the geographical arrangement (where) of various land uses. Environmental Planners and Environmental Scientists apply their understanding of physical, biological, and social sciences to determine environmental impact and to make better informed land use decisions. The focus of environmental planning is to protect significant natural, cultural and historical features from negative impacts associated with land use development practices. Suzanne Forbes, AICP is a nationally-certified planner (American Institute of Certified Planners, 1997). Suzanne has expertise in community planning, environmental planning, and environmental science.
